Ms. Fancy Pants and a Bright Sweater Too!

Ann Taylor Orange Cardigan, Size Small (Ann Taylor Factory Store)
Banana Republic, Camden Fit Dot-Print Ankle Pant, Size 4 (on sale here for $35)

Hello!  It’s been a rough day, but I don’t want to get into all of that right now. . .  I would much rather talk about my outfit!  I bought these Camden Fit Dot-Print Ankle Pant on line here from Banana Republic for $35, Size 4.  I wanted to find some fun pants that weren’t over the top and these fit the bill!  The color is classic black and white, but the print is different.  I wanted to add some color to my outfit, so I paired the pants with this orange cardigan that I found at the Ann Taylor Factory Store early in the summer. It’s finally getting cool enough to wear.  I wore a black camisole underneath, just to make sure that if there were any gaps between the buttons, I wouldn’t be flashing anyone at work!  I accessorized with my orange and gold chunky bracelet, (www.Piperlime.com) orange earrings (also from Piperlime) and a Peter Pan necklace from www.etsy.com.

Perfect Fall Dress for a Summer like Day!

Ann Taylor Plum Floral Dress, Size 4 (Ann Taylor Factory Store, $21)
Loft Yellow Resin Bracelet with Beetle Detail (Loft Outlet, $6)

Good morning!  As usual things have been chaotic lately!  On Saturday night, my daughter fell off a chair in our family room and hit the coffee table and had to get stitches (technically they were staples) on the back of her head.  Thank goodness she didn’t get a concussion!  And the staples haven’t slowed her down at all!  In fact, I’ve had to keep reminding her to be careful and slow down, so she doesn’t re-injure herself.  My son has apparently been biting kids at daycare and has been listed as a “Biter” in his file!  How awful!  He’s not biting at home, so I’m not sure how to stop that behavior.  Yesterday I received two calls from daycare, the first one the nurse called to tell me that someone pushed Ava and she hit her head (but the staples are fine) and the second from the same nurse because Grayson was bitten by someone!  I was almost relieved that he wasn’t the biter.  What a week it’s been and it’s only Wednesday!

Moving on the fun part of my day. . . picking out my outfit!  October is by far my favorite month of the year, but the weather isn’t feeling very autumn like.  It’s supposed to get up to 88 degrees today!  The warmer weather provided the perfect opportunity to wear this new dress that I found at the Ann Taylor Factory Store last weekend.  I was so excited to find this dress.  There was only one and it just happened to be a Size 4!  The best part was that it was reduced from $110 to $35, with an additional 40% off, so I got it for $21!!!  It really doesn’t get much better than that!  I loved the deep plum color and the bright yellow, lavender and cream floral pattern.  The dress is fitted in the bust and loose but structured with pockets in the bottom.  I paired it with neutral heels (but I would love a pair of bright yellow pumps) and accessorized with a yellow resin bead bracelet with a gold “beetle” detail (found at the Loft outlet for around $6), a gold “twig” necklace and gold earrings. I feel ready to conquer the world in this dress, or maybe just conquer my son’s biting! ;-)

Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

BCBG Pleat Chevron Dress; Pefect for the transition to Fall!

BCBG Max and Cleo, Vertical Pleat Chevron Dress (BCBG Outlet 2013)

Charlotte Ronson Platform Sandal/Shootie (Hautelook.com)

Good morning!  I feel like I haven’t posted in ages!  We had a wonderful vacation over Labor Day week in the Outer Banks, NC.  Unfortunately, at the end of our vacation, my daughter got sick.  Last week was a long week, staying home with her since she had high fevers and after two trips to the doctor, still no idea what it was other than “gastrointestinal virus.”  I just love those mystery illnesses!  It appears that she is better now, but my whole family has a cold (except me, but who knows for how long).  And so it begins. .

Today is one of those summer/fall transitional weather days in Richmond, where it’s chilly in morning, but will still get into the 70s by afternoon, so I decided to wear this BCBG Max and Cleo dress, Size Small, (BCBG Outlet 2013).  It has more Fall colors in it, but is still light enough to wear as the temperature rises.  I paired it with chunky Charlotte Ronson Sandals/Shooties, (whatever you want to call them) in a Taupe that matches one of the Chevrons in the dress.  I found these shoes on www.hautelook.com last year for about $35 and I get so many compliments every time I wear them!  I almost went with a black shoe, but I love these shoes and will have plenty of opportunities to wear black shoes!  I accessorized with a silver multi-chain necklace (closet) and my platinum and diamond hoop earrings (gift from husband).

Thanks for stopping by!

Butterfly Tippi Sweater for an Evening by the Fire Pit

J. Crew Merino Tippi Sweater in Stripe Monarch, Color: Citrus Sky Ivory, Size Small (Currently on sale here for $44.99)
Ann Taylor Blue Shorts, Size 4 (closet)

Hello!  I usually try to post the day that I wear an outfit, but my weekend was filled with lots of activities with friends and family; dinner at our house with friends on Friday, a picnic at the park, trip to the petting zoo, a play date for my daughter at yet another park and lots of errands!  In this picture, we are enjoying a nice fire in the fire pit, which is one of my husband’s favorite activities of Fall!  It was in the 70s today and a little chilly in the evening, so it was a perfect day to wear my J. Crew Merino Tippi Sweater in Stripe Monarch, Color: Citrus Sky Ivory, Size Small.  I bought this sweater back in June and have been waiting for a day cool enough to wear it!  My day finally arrived!  I think I paid $42 for the sweater.  It’s currently on sale here for $59.99 with an additional 25% off, so $44.99.  I just started shopping at J. Crew recently and I’ve found that their tops run a little big.  I thought this would be a little more fitted, but it’s definitely slouchy through the waist, but not too big.  I paired the sweater with Blue Shorts from Ann Taylor Shorts (2012).  I think I bought every color they had of these shorts when they were on sale and I practically live in them on the weekends.  The fit is great, they are short without being inappropriately short for a mom to wear and they are flattering.  Bonus; they are machine washable and whatever sticky fingers smear on me throughout the day washes right out!  What more can you ask for?

Keeping Cool in Fuchsia Halter and Seersucker

Banana Republic Fuchsia Pleated Wrap Top, Size 6 (closet)
Ann Taylor Seersucker Pencil Skirt, Size 4 (Factory Store 2012)

Gold Dipped Agate Slice Necklace (www.leifshop.com)

Franco Sarto “Roxanne” Wedges (here for $59.99)

Good morning!  My day got off to a relaxing start!  I waited until 6:00 to get up for my run since my children are home with my husband today and I wouldn’t have to get them ready/take them to daycare.  And I actually arrived at work before 8:30 this morning, which never happens!  It was so nice.  I heard from my husband a little while ago and his morning hasn’t gone quite as smoothly.  Apparently our daughter locked our son and him out of the house for ten minutes and just cried instead of unlocking the door.  He said he almost called me to come home, but Ava finally unlocked the door.  I can’t laugh, though, because I’m home with them tomorrow and there’s no telling what kind of toddler inspired atrocities await!

Today I decided to keep my outfit light since it is ridiculously humid outside (94% when I ran this morning), so I am wearing a Fuchsia Halter”esque” top from Banana Republic, Size 6 (closet).  I wouldn’t call it a full halter because it has a back and I consider a real halter top to be backless (which I wouldn’t wear to work).  I paired the top with my Ann Taylor Seersucker Pencil Skirt, Size 4 (Factory Store, 2012) and accessorized with fuchsia and gold earrings, Etsy.com (seen in another outfit here), Gold Dipped Agate Slice Necklace (www.leifshop.com) and Franco Sarto “Roxanne” Wedges in Fuchsia (here for $59.99).

Well, wish me luck on my day “working from home” with the kids tomorrow!  Thanks for stopping by!

Polka Dots Make Everyone Happy!

Ann Taylor White Button Down Shirt, Size 4, (closet)
Pink Bubble Necklace, Etsy ($13.00)
Franco Sarto Neutral Strappy Sandals (closet)

Good morning!  Today is a bittersweet day for me.  I dropped my son off in the infant room of daycare for the very last time this morning.  I can’t believe that my baby boy is no longer a baby!  Both of my kids will be moving up to the next classroom after our vacation.  At least the cost of the daycare will go down a little!

My daughter Ava’s classroom is holding their end of year party this afternoon and then I’m meeting a friend for a cocktail, so I needed to wear an outfit that I will not flash everyone in when I sit down in the tiny chairs, but still nice enough for an adult outing afterward.  I chose my Ann Taylor Pink Polka Dot Pencil Skirt, Size 2, which is currently on final sale here for $38.93.  If you are in between sizes, size down for this skirt.  It runs a little big.  Yesterday I wore an Ann Taylor Pencil Skirt in black in a Size 4 and it fit the same as this Size 2.  Last month I paired this skirt with a sheer top with a tie-neck (look can be found here).  This time, I decided to pair the skirt with a classic white button down cuffed sleeve shirt.  The shirt is from Ann Taylor, Size 4 (closet) and it’s one of my favorite button downs because the darting at the waist provides a slim fit.  I prefer a tailored look and hate when button downs billow out!  I accessorized with a white leather belt (closet), gold earrings, Pink Bubble Necklace (here on Etsy for $13) and neutral Franco Sarto Strappy Sandals (closet).

Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Posh and Professional: Ann Taylor Keyhole neck top and Pencil Skirt

Ann Taylor Keyhole Top with Pintucking, Size 4 (closet)
Ann Taylor Below the Knee Pencil Skirt, Size 4 (2013)
Vince Camuto “Horn” Necklace (T.J. Maxx, Summer 2013)

Nine West Peep Toe “Bow” Slingbacks (closet)

Good morning!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  My weekend was very nice.  My husband and I had a date night on Saturday, which is always fun.  Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of my date night outfit.  I don’t know how it happens, but every time we are getting ready to go out, complete madness ensues at our house!  We also took the kids to the park for a picnic and made one of our last trips to the pool.  I’m back at work for a short week, since our daycare is closed on Thursday and Friday, my husband and I are taking turns working from home and then it’s off to the beach on Sunday for our annual family vacation!

Today I am in full professional mode, wearing an Ann Taylor Keyhole Top with Pintucking in blue, Size 4 (closet), with an Ann Taylor Below the Knee Pencil Skirt, Size 4 (2013).  I accessorized with a black leather belt (closet), Vince Camuto “Horn” Necklace (T.J. Maxx, Summer 2013), Gold and Blue earrings and Blue Nine West Peep Toe “Bow” Slingbacks (closet).

I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start!  Thanks for stopping by!
